FIDO Overview — Secure Technology Alliance, June 2015

In June 2015, Philip Andreae presented a comprehensive overview of the FIDO Alliance and its authentication standards to an audience of US government officials and financial institution executives — among the constituencies most focused on replacing the password with something both more secure and more usable.

The presentation was delivered under the auspices of the Secure Technology Alliance (then the Smart Card Alliance), the industry body that bridges government, financial, and technology sectors around secure identity and payments. FIDO’s proposition — that strong authentication could be both phishing-resistant and frictionless — was particularly resonant for this audience, operating in high-stakes, high-compliance environments.

At the time, Philip served as Secretary of the FIDO Alliance Board of Directors, a role he held from 2013 to 2017, and as a senior executive at Oberthur Technologies — one of FIDO’s founding board members.
