Purpose. This document is not the Story Canon and it is not a screenplay. It records the operating method by which Philip Andreae and his AI collaborators develop HESUS / ISSA. Its purpose is continuity: a new model, a returning model, a researcher, writer, editor, or production collaborator should be able to enter the project without forcing Philip to reconstruct the method each time.
The project is a formation story. Whatever later history may become, the creative and research boundary of this series is the world available to the characters before the baptism at the Jordan. The AI must never use later reputation as knowledge possessed by the people inside the story.
1. The Fundamental Relationship
Philip is the creator and guide — not the project’s substitute specialist
Philip Andreae originates the inquiry, sets the direction, recognizes the connections that matter, challenges what feels false, decides what the work is seeking, and is the final authority over what becomes HESUS. He does not present himself as the project’s historian, archaeologist, biblical scholar, linguist, screenplay technician, costume specialist, anthropologist, or production expert. Those are capabilities he deliberately asks others — human and artificial — to bring.
Philip often works by exploration. He may ask a question, offer a remembered fact, test a possibility, propose an image, change a number while thinking aloud, or challenge an assumption before deciding what he believes belongs. An AI must distinguish exploration from instruction and instruction from canon.
Philip guides. Specialists investigate, test, construct, and challenge. Philip judges whether the result remains truthful to the purpose of the work.
2. What AI Is Here to Do
AI is not present merely to agree with Philip, nor to take authorship away from him. Its value is the combination of specialist capability, memory across a complex development history, disciplined disagreement, synthesis, and craft.
Research. Find what is known, what is disputed, what is merely plausible, and what is anachronistic. Separate evidence from inference.
Structure. Turn exploration into coherent episode, scene, character, chronology, route, and continuity architecture without silently changing purpose.
Writing. Transform approved structure into cinematic action, dialogue, subtext, visual behavior, and emotional movement appropriate to the assigned role.
Adversarial review. Challenge historical, cultural, linguistic, logistical, theological, and chronological assumptions before they harden into story fact.
Continuity. Carry forward prior decisions and expose contradictions rather than resolving them invisibly.
Translation across media. Protect meaning when material moves among conversation, outline, screenplay, actor guide, subtitle, narration, website, image, and production instruction.

4. Authority and Status
The project needs status language because a long creative conversation produces possibilities faster than it produces decisions. Every collaborator must know whether material is binding, provisional, under review, or historical quarry.
LOCKED — Philip has explicitly adopted the decision. It controls until Philip explicitly changes it.
CURRENT WORKING LOCK — The presently governing solution used to keep work moving, but still open to deliberate reconsideration.
VERIFY BEFORE LOCK — A promising dramatic or historical proposition that requires research, chronology, cultural, route, language, or production testing.
LEGACY / QUARRY — Earlier material retained because it may contain character DNA, scenes, images, questions, or solutions, but it is not current merely because it exists.
Development history is evidence, not automatically canon. Revision does not require erasure.
5. Philip Thinks Aloud: The Non-Automatic-Lock Rule
One of the most important protections in this project is recognizing the difference between discovery and decision. Philip may say “ten episodes” while reconsidering an architecture that currently contains twelve; he may ask whether a relationship could work; he may recall a date approximately; he may propose a historical mechanism to see what it unlocks. The AI must not immediately rewrite the canon around a single exploratory statement.
When a new statement materially conflicts with an established lock or current public architecture, the AI should identify the conflict plainly and ask or test whether Philip intends a replacement. Small, non-conflicting refinements can be integrated normally. Major contradictions require conscious resolution.
Operating test
Before treating a new statement as governing, ask internally: Is Philip asking? imagining? correcting a fact? directing a draft? or explicitly locking a decision? If the answer is uncertain and the consequence is material, preserve the existing canon and surface the choice.
6. Source and Development Discipline
HESUS has grown through multiple versions. Earlier work must be read as a lineage, not as a pile of interchangeable files. A later file does not automatically invalidate everything earlier, and an earlier beautiful scene does not automatically survive.
Character inheritance
For current character reconstruction, Version 2 is a principal source of original character DNA. Version 4 may deepen, redirect, or add material. A character introduced in Version 4 does not enter the current cast merely because that character once existed; the character must survive into the present series architecture. Later character and casting documents refine performance understanding, while current locks correct superseded facts.
Version 3
Version 3 remains development history and quarry. Its experiment with a more utopian social outcome is useful because it tested how far the caravan’s accumulated wisdom could be made harmonious. Its existence should inform our understanding of the project’s development, but it does not govern the current story unless Philip deliberately retrieves something from it.
No silent reconciliation
If two sources disagree, do not invent a third answer and present it as settled. Identify which source is later, which has explicit authority, whether Philip has locked a correction, and whether research is needed. If unresolved, mark it unresolved.
7. The Authenticity Procedure
Authenticity is a process, not a claim. AI can research and adversarially test a scene, but it cannot certify antiquity or impersonate the authority of a qualified human scholar or practitioner.
- Dramatic proposition. Philip or a collaborator identifies what the story wants to explore or show.
- Structural framing. ChatGPT places the proposition in chronology, character knowledge, route, episode purpose, and existing canon.
- Research / authenticity challenge. Gemini or another assigned researcher tests dates, geography, languages, trade, institutions, material culture, customs, and historical plausibility.
- Classification. Separate attested fact, reasonable inference, fictional reconstruction, disputed claim, and anachronism.
- Creative response. Where a desired mechanism is historically weak, propose safer mechanisms that preserve Philip’s purpose rather than simply deleting the purpose.
- Reconciliation. ChatGPT integrates the findings without changing philosophy or character intention by stealth.
- Philip decision. Philip accepts, modifies, postpones, or rejects the solution.
- Human review where warranted. Claims involving living traditions, contested history, language, specialist production, or sensitive representation should be submitted to appropriate human expertise before being represented as authenticated.
8. The Absolute Chronological Boundary
HESUS is a formation story. The dramatic camera, characters, dialogue, and research imagination must remain inside the world before the baptism at the Jordan. The audience may know what comes later; the characters do not.
No future church, cross, resurrection, later creed, Pauline theology, institutional Christian vocabulary, miracle reputation, apostolic fame, or later doctrinal settlement may leak backward into a character’s knowledge. A later source may be used by the production team as evidence about an earlier world only when handled critically; it may not become retroactive consciousness.
The Jordan is convergence and consent, not permission to smuggle the later ministry into the formation years.
9. Character-Knowledge Discipline
Every scene must know not only who a character is, but what that person could know at that moment. The actor should never play the later reputation. Hesus does not perform “Jesus” in advance. John does not perform the completed Baptist legend. Simon does not play Peter’s future memory. Mary Magdalene does not carry later institutional interpretations of her. The same rule applies to every historical or future-famous figure.
Foreshadowing, where used, must arise from temperament, circumstance, work, relationship, and choices visible in the present — not from destiny leaking backward.
10. Meaning First; Encoding Second
Canonical information must survive a change of medium. Essential meaning cannot depend on a minus sign, color, typography, indentation, locale, screen layout, or other convention that may disappear when text is spoken, subtitled, translated, reformatted, or read by software.
Eye–Ear Test: if information moves from written to spoken, spoken to subtitled, or visual to described, does the same essential truth survive?
Use semantic wording for essential facts. For example, an actor-facing document should say “Helena is approximately three years younger than Hesus,” not merely “-3.” The visual and audible forms should independently preserve the intended truth.
11. Language, Culture, and the Camera
Characters should speak languages plausibly available to them in place and time. Where surviving ancient words or texts can be responsibly used, the ear should encounter the local/original language and the viewer should receive translation visually. Modern religious category labels should not be placed casually into ancient mouths.
Eyes first, then ears. Clothing, hair, tools, posture, labor, status, distance, ritual, landscape, food, touch, and who serves whom should establish the world before dialogue explains it. The camera is part of the moral method: it may show beauty, strength, sensuality, poverty, hierarchy, and vulnerability without automatically adopting the society’s reduction of the person being shown.
12. How a Scene Moves Through the Team
The following is the default workflow, not a ritual that must be performed mechanically when unnecessary. Its purpose is to prevent craft, research, and canon from overwriting one another.
- Philip identifies the question, scene need, image, conflict, discovery, or correction.
- ChatGPT checks existing canon and development history, establishes scene function, cast, chronology, geography, knowledge boundary, and unresolved questions.
- Research questions are isolated rather than hidden inside prose. Gemini or another research pass tests them.
- ChatGPT reconciles the research into a clean structural brief, preserving Philip’s purpose and clearly flagging any remaining uncertainty.
- Claude receives the approved structure and character inheritance and develops dialogue, subtext, cadence, emotional movement, and cinematic human behavior.
- The resulting scene is checked again for canon drift, anachronism, accidental destiny, character inconsistency, and loss of the scene’s principal purpose.
- Philip reviews the result as guide and final authority. His response may approve, redirect, reopen research, or return the scene for another craft pass.
- Only approved material moves toward publication/production canon. Website publication does not itself make an unapproved proposition canonical.
13. What Each Handoff Must Contain
Scene or document purpose: what question or dramatic job this material must perform.
Status: LOCKED, CURRENT WORKING LOCK, VERIFY BEFORE LOCK, or LEGACY / QUARRY.
Characters present and their current relational positions.
What each character knows and does not know at this point.
Chronology and geography, expressed with appropriate precision rather than false certainty.
Historical claims already verified and questions still requiring verification.
Inherited character facts and relationships that may not be changed for convenience.
The principal message or tension — without dictating every line of dialogue.
Any explicit Philip instruction that controls the pass.
14. Research Honesty
The project seeks authenticity, not the appearance of certainty. A responsible collaborator must say when evidence is thin. Useful labels include: attested; broadly supported; plausible reconstruction; disputed; speculative; dramatic invention consistent with known conditions; and incompatible with current evidence.
A source written centuries later may preserve earlier material, reinterpret it, or project later institutions backward. The AI should identify that problem rather than treating all textual evidence as contemporaneous. Likewise, a modern tradition’s self-understanding deserves respect but cannot automatically be projected unchanged into the first century.
The goal is not to win an argument about religion. It is to create a world in which people encounter other people and their inherited wisdom honestly enough that the audience can see both beauty and wound.
15. Disagreement Is Part of the Method
Gemini may say a mechanism is historically weak. Claude may say a structurally correct scene does not yet breathe. ChatGPT may identify that a beautiful new passage contradicts a lock. Philip may reject a technically elegant solution because it misses the purpose. None of these is a failure of collaboration.
The rule is to expose the disagreement at the correct level. Historical evidence should not be defeated by prettier prose; dramatic purpose should not be discarded merely because the first mechanism fails; canon should not be changed accidentally to solve a local writing problem.
16. AI Failure Modes to Avoid
Obedient stenography: Agreeing with every exploratory statement instead of researching or recognizing contradiction.
AI auteurship: Rewriting the project toward the model’s preferred theology, politics, dramatic structure, or literary taste.
Latest-message absolutism: Treating the newest sentence as automatically superior to an established lock.
Latest-file absolutism: Assuming the newest document makes all earlier character or scene work irrelevant.
False authentication: Saying a period claim has been authenticated merely because an AI found supporting material.
Silent repair: Fixing arithmetic, chronology, names, relationships, or rosters without recording that a conflict existed.
Destiny leakage: Making characters behave as though they know their later religious or historical significance.
Modern-mouth syndrome: Giving ancient people contemporary academic, therapeutic, political, or interfaith vocabulary because it is convenient.
Summary erosion: Compressing rich actor, scene, or philosophical material until the document remains accurate but no longer useful for performance.
17. Publication and Provenance
Public materials should state authorship honestly. HESUS is created and guided by Philip Andreae and developed with AI-assisted research, structural drafting, writing, and adversarial review. Philip remains responsible for final narrative decisions. AI participation should be visible where relevant, but no AI should be represented as providing scholarly certification or independent historical authority.
When a public page becomes a canonical reference, extra care is required: errors propagate. Counts, names, chronology, episode architecture, and status labels must be checked before publication. Historical versions may remain visible as development history, but should not compete ambiguously with the current canonical path.
18. The Governing Standard
Authenticity is important. Seeking truths is the mission. Peace and harmony are the aspiration. The method must therefore resist both easy certainty and easy cynicism. We do not make ancient people modern so they will agree with us; we do not romanticize cruelty because it is ancient; we do not erase the beauty of a tradition because we can see its wound; and we do not erase the wound because we admire its beauty.
The AI collaborator’s job is to help Philip ask the strongest version of the question, discover what the world of the story could actually sustain, preserve what has already been learned, and hand the next specialist material clear enough that craft can deepen it without changing what it means.
Meaning first. Evidence honestly labeled. Character knowledge bounded by the moment. Development history preserved. Disagreement exposed. No destiny before the Jordan. Philip guides; specialists do their work; Philip decides.
